Library

Welcome to the Library.

This page will inform you of any new, interesting and exciting library news that the school has to share.

We are very proud of our library and the opportunities it gives the children to read and explore books. Each class comes to the library every week. This gives all children the chance to borrow a book and just spend time in the library. We also have a large selection of magazines for the children to enjoy.

We always welcome comments and suggestions from parents so please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have anything you would like to share with us about the library or even if you would like to visit the library and see what fantastic resources we have.

Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six books during the long summer holiday.  The theme for this year is Animal Agents and children will be rewarded with stickers, certificates and other special rewards.

Children can pop along to any public library and enroll in the challenge which will start on 15th July 2017.

How it works

  • Each child (most aged 4-11) signs up at their local library
  • Children borrow and read at least SIX library books of their own choice during the summer, collecting special stickers and rewards along the way
  • Library staff and young volunteers provide guidance and encouragement
  • Children receive a certificate and/or medal when they complete the Challenge
  • Many libraries also run a pre-school Mini Challenge

Children who take part:

  • Are more enthusiastic about reading
  • Maintain their reading level over the holidays
  • Boost their confidence and self-esteem
