Helping your child learn at home

Close co-operation between home and school is essential as children give of their best when they are aware that both parents and teachers are working together.

When your child first starts school we expect you to regularly spend time with your child on the following activities: 

  • daily home reading with and adult, emphasising, fluency, expression and understanding approximately 10 minutes
  • spellings – particularly high frequency words. Teachers will advise
  • numeracy - one activity to be done at home
  • researching project work every half term. This is not compulsory
